Responsible Gaming: Maintain Control and Personal Limits

Online gaming can be entertainment, but it is not a source of income, a way to repay debt or a solution to financial problems. Set time and money limits before starting. Increasing a budget or extending play to recover losses increases risk.

Set limits in advance

Choose a daily or weekly budget that is not needed for rent, food, education, healthcare, debt or other essentials. Stop the session when the budget is used.

Set a time limit as well. An alarm or session reminder can help. Gaming should not replace sleep, work, study or family time.

Recognise warning signs

Take a break if any of these behaviours becomes regular:

  • Trying repeatedly to recover losses
  • Spending beyond a set budget
  • Lying to family or friends about gaming money
  • Disrupting work, sleep or study
  • Borrowing or using essential funds
  • Feeling anxious or angry when stopping
  • Using increasing amounts to seek the same result

Take a break and seek support

If control feels difficult, check whether the account offers limits, cooling-off or self-exclusion. Availability must be confirmed on the current platform. Speak with a trusted family member, friend or qualified support professional when needed.

Protect minors

Keep gaming accounts, passwords and payment methods away from children and minors. Do not save login details on shared devices. Device-level parental controls and separate user profiles can help.

Remember

No strategy, bonus or game result guarantees profit. Set a budget, keep a time limit and do not chase losses. If gaming causes stress, debt or family problems, stop and seek appropriate support.
